John Shennan Field to become Local Nature Reserve

18 Apr 2024

This is the only large green space in Moulsham Lodge and your Lib Dem councillors want to protect it.

The Liberal Democrats campaigned in 2019 to stop this from being built on (which the Conservatives wanted to do). This is an amazing space to walk around with or without a dog. Chelmsford City Council's parks team and all the many volunteers that help out up there have done a fantastic job of planting hundreds of trees.

Cllrs Simon Goldman and Ashley Thompson want to go one step further in protecting this space, which is why they are working with Chelmsford City Council officers to try and get Local Nature Reserve (LNR) status on John Shennan Field.

LNRs are for people and wildlife. They offer people opportunities to study or learn about nature or simply to enjoy it. LNR status will protect this beautiful space for generations to come.
