Marie's Priorities
Marie is focused on the issues that matter most to local families and businesses in Chelmsford
Her priorities include improving healthcare services for Chelmsford residents, strengthening community safety - particularly for women and girls - and supporting small and medium-sized businesses. She is also a strong advocate for local families, campaigning for better food nutrition standards and greater support for SEND children. She works hard to deliver this, day in, day out.
Supporting Local Families
Marie is committed to ensuring that children with special educational needs and disabilities (SEND), along with their families, receive the support they need. She also strongly believes food marketed to young people should be better regulated for nutritional quality, so that every child gets the best possible start in life.
Improving Local Healthcare
Marie believes everyone should have access to timely, high-quality healthcare. She is concerned by the poor performance ratings of the local NHS trust and is clear that this reflects a lack of resources and historic mismanagement rather than the efforts of hardworking frontline staff. Marie continues to press for improvements at Broomfield Hospital and across local healthcare services more broadly.
In Summer 2026, Marie wrote to our local NHS Integrated Care Board supporting their proposal for a Core Neighbourhood Health Centre here in Chelmsford.
Ensuring Community Safety
Marie is committed to keeping Chelmsford safe. She works closely with the police and other local partners to ensure residents are not just safe, but feel safe, by pushing for more visible policing and making sure people know their concerns are being heard. She is also particularly focused on tackling violence against women and girls, both through her work in Parliament and locally in the constituency.
Backing Local Business
For over twenty years, Marie has called Chelmsford home – raising her children here and running a small business with her husband. She understands the pressures facing small businesses and is committed to helping Chelmsford's high street, and the wider area, remain home to a diverse range of thriving independent businesses. She champions the interests of local traders and works to support the conditions needed for growth.
