Free services and training opportunities are now available in the Melbourne area. The Parkside Community Hub was opened last week by housing provider CHP.

Over 70 people attend the launch event at the Hub, which used to be a clinic. It now provides the community with an IT training suite; a training kitchen; a multi-function room with crèche facility, a number of meeting rooms and a communal garden.

One of the attendees was Cllr Stephen Robinson who is a member of the North West Chelmsford Action Group, which has been supporting the project since the outset.

Advice for the public
JobCentre Plus, the council, the police, Citizens Advice and many other agencies will be based at the Hub from time to time.

Local residents can book training courses and meeting rooms.

Training courses
The Hub aims to enhance residents' lives and provide them with the skills to gain employment.

During school holidays, the Hub also offers activities for young people, including neighbourhood respect projects such as arts and crafts and cooking, educational trips and litter picking projects.
