North Chelmsford councillor ends busy year as Mayor

Alan Arnot's term as Chelmsford Mayor has now ended. He attended over 300 different events and told the recent council meeting that this pace of events made it feel like the shortest year of his life. Cllr Arnot (Lib Dem councillor for Patching Hall ward) also raised over £30,000 for the Essex Air Ambulance during the year. (You can still donate online on their website.)

Cllr Arnot and Mayoress Jackie Arnot both told the Essex Chronicle that the ceremonial highlight of the year was the reaffirmation of the cultural links between Chelmsford and its twin towns of Annonay and Backnang.

Jackie said: "But it is all the little events we went to where so many people who are doing so many super things for this town that really made the year. Chelmsford is a vibrant place and our year has shown it."
