Most potholed road in Chelmsford to be fixed
Essex County Council has announced plans to fix the worst road in Chelmsford. Trent Road, in north west Chelmsford, has more potholes than probably any other road in the city area.
The road was due to be fully resurfaced this summer but instead temporary measures will be put in place. Due to builders trucks going to and from the new Lawford Mead school site, it will be Summer 2015 at the earliest before a full new surface is installed.
Cllr. Stephen Robinson commented, "I have been pushing for action here for well over a year. This, at last, is better than nothing."
Essex Highways told Cllr Robinson:
"Our Capital Works Team is meeting with Eurovia Specialist Treatments representatives to discuss undertaking an alternative scheme to:
- Plane off the existing asphalt surface down to the original concrete
- Joint seal the concrete carriageway
- Re-align/Lower the ironworks (manhole covers/frames, gulley covers/frames)
- Ramp up where necessary drop crossings, especially the pedestrian ones
- Reinstate the road linings and markings
Once all the redevelopment works to the school are completed, the re-surfacing of Trent Road would then be looked at again for undertaking, provisionally for 2015/16 financial year.
