Meteor Way Chelmsford - saved from bulldozers

A much loved site in west Chelmsford, used by many community clubs and organisations, has been saved from developers. The drama group CAODS, CYGAMS, Miniature Railway, Chelmsford Ballet, Scouts, ATC, Rifle Club, Chelmsford Cycle Club, and others based in Meteor Way are no longer under threat of their site being developed.

At this week's meeting of the Chelmsford Council Development Policy Committee, the site was taken out of the proposed local plan, which shapes the future development of Chelmsford up to 2036.

Cllr Jude Deakin said, "I can't tell you how pleased I am at this decision. All the effort, talks and campaigning to save the site for the community, have all been worthwhile. It feels good to be able to spread some good news.

Many residents from Chelmsford and beyond signed the petition in support of our campaign to Save Meteor Way from the bulldozers. The clubs can now carry on serving the community for many years to come."
