Memories of Childhood at Chelmsford Museum from this Saturday

Chelmsford City Council is opening a new exhibition this weekend (Saturday 8 December) at Chelmsford Museum which will bring back fond memories of childhood. From toys and games, to children's TV and schooldays, the exhibition explores the social history of childhood through themes of playtime, childcare, early learning and clothing.
The exhibition includes interactive artefacts that children of all ages (from two to 92!) can play with including an Alphabet Blocks Sound Post that plays clips of people remembering their favourite toys, a huge Connect Four game, a toy box (including hobby horses, Punch and Judy, Jacobs ladder and a top), a Humpty Dumpty wall game and a wooden fishing game. There is also a Bear trail - see if you can find Paddington's sandwich or Rupert's scarf!
On display will be toys from the museum's collection and also some of the favourite toys of the museum's curators. Come and see Scalextric, Game Boy, Windy Miller, Clangers and Daleks; you can even have a game of Ludo.
The exhibition will run until Sunday 27 January and is part of the touring exhibition programme, funded by Renaissance East of England. For more information please call the Museum on 01245 605700
