Lib Dems oppose town cramming and back north of Boreham for new houses

In the run up to the local plan public inquiry, Chelmsford Liberal Democrats have made clear their opposition to 'town cramming' and 'urban sprawl' in the Borough Council's plans for new houses. They are backing proposals for houses to go on a site north of the A12, north of Boreham and opposing the plans for houses around Broomfield and Springfield.
These proposals will all be aired at an inquiry that starts on Tuesday 11 September. The Liberal Democrats are the only political party to have taken a full part in the enquiry process and are listed to speak.
Various developers have proposed 71 sites as alternative locations for housing, compared to those proposed by the council. The Lib Dems support much of what is contained in Alternative 34 and have said so in their formal response - which is a PDF at this link: http://snipurl.com/ldf_review
NB The map drawn by the council to summarise ALT34 is misleading - ALT34 does not propose houses on land adjacent to Springfield.
