How Chelmsford is remembering HM Queen Elizabeth II

We are deeply saddened by the death of Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II and, as a mark of respect, we have suspended all campaigning and political activity during the official period of mourning. However, your local councillors are still available to assist you with any important local issues that arise.
Queen Elizabeth II served her country and people diligently, honourably and gracefully. For over 70 years she was the most dedicated of public servants and this is the end of an era in our history. As we begin a new chapter, her loss will be strongly felt, not just by her family and people in the United Kingdom, but by all those touched by her presence and work around the world.
Our sincere sympathies and thoughts are extended to the entire Royal Family at this time.
Books of condolence
Many Chelmsford residents will want to mark the passing of Her Majesty. Chelmsford City Council has opened books of condolence across the city area. You can find out the locations on the council's website.
Floral tributes
The Mayor of Chelmsford laid flowers in remembrance of Her Majesty on Friday morning, by the flagpole in Bell Meadow (north of Parkway / west of New London Road) and residents can do so too. Read more here.
Proclamation in Chelmsford
The new King was proclaimed by every Mayor around the country today, Sunday 11 September. In Chelmsford, this was in front of the Civic Centre at 2pm. Watch the video here.
We also remember that, as well as the nation losing its Monarch, a family has lost a much-loved member.
