Fire safety in your home: free advice from Essex Fire & Rescue
Essex Fire & Rescue is offering Fire Safety visits to local groups and individuals. They can speak to groups on home fire safety and also carry out a home fire safety visit to an individual's home.
A group visit will pass on awareness and the information on how to request a visit from the technicians.
Primarily the Fire Service would like to target older people, single parents and people with mobility/learning difficulties. However anyone can request a visit, which is available free of charge.
Divisional Fire Officer Neil Fenwick said:
Smoke alarms are proven life savers; they give vital early warning at the first sign of fire giving everyone time to get out to safety before calling the fire service.
Our free home fire safety visits see the Service fit thousands of smoke alarms in homes across the county every year and this year we want to fit more than ever. The alarms are fitted by trained technicians who will also carry out a full home fire safety inspection.
There is no cost whatsoever to the people receiving the visit and they are left safer in their homes and secure in the knowledge that they are as safe as possible from the risks posed by fire.
Please let us know about any community groups whose members you feel would benefit from one of our free home fire safety visits.
The more groups we can advertise this scheme to the more people we can make sure are safe in their homes.
If you have any ideas about groups we could get in touch with and offer this service then please let Sub Officer Andre Turner, Fire Safety, know. He can be contacted by calling 01376 376226 or emailing andre.turner@essex-fire.gov.uk
