Don't use Pay Day loans - use your local savers group

People thinking of using a "pay day" loan are urged instead to use their local savers group, also known as a credit union. Cllr. Stephen Robinson serves on the council committee that has been reviewing financial services. He commented, "In mid Essex we have Essex Savers, from which people can get small to medium sized loans, and also keep some savings. There are others too, such as HarlowSave."

Cllr Robinson's call comes on the day when Lib Dem Minister for Consumer Affairs, Jo Swinson MP, has announced that "Payday" lenders could face new restrictions on how they advertise and a new code of practice. Read more here.
