Chelmsford's Remembrance Sunday Parade 2021
This year's Remembrance Sunday Parade and Service in Chelmsford will take place on Sunday 14 November at the War Memorial on Duke Street, at 10.50am. The Mayor will join veterans and members of the public to pay respect to all those who continue to serve our country's Armed Forces, as well as those who gave their lives during previous wars.
Wreaths will be laid outside the Civic Centre.
The service will be conducted by The Very Reverend Nicholas Henshall, Dean of Chelmsford and members of the Chelmsford inter-faith community. Following the service, the Parade will march off along Rainsford Road before returning to march past the War Memorial, where the Mayor will take the salute.
The Mayor of Chelmsford, Councillor Jude Deakin, invites you to join her at this special annual Service of Remembrance, saying, "We owe so much to our Armed Forces who have fought, died and been injured defending us. By wearing a poppy you are supporting the Armed Forces community both past and present, and we ask you to Rethink Remembrance and reflect on the contribution made by all generations of the Armed Forces. All the money raised from the poppy sales goes to those who have served and are serving in our Armed Forces and their families, so I'd encourage everyone to buy one and wear it with pride as Remembrance weekend approaches."
Parts of Duke Street will be closed from 10am on Sunday 14 November, but access to Fairfield Road Car Park from Coval Lane will still be available. As in previous years, there will also be a shelter provided for elderly and disabled ex-service men and women.
