Green taxes must rise AND income tax be cut

Income tax should be cut from 20p to 16p per £ - its lowest level for nearly 100 years. "This is one of a range of tax measures from the Liberal Democrats that will reduce the burden imposed by the Labour government on hard pressed families," said Stephen Robinson, Chelmsford Lib Dem Parliamentary Candidate. "We will fund the tax cut from increasing green taxes, so that we can really do something about climate change, and closing tax loopholes for the very rich. The total raised from green taxes has actually fallen in recent years.

"The Liberal Democrats would CUT taxes on things we like, such as income, and put up taxes on things we don't like - such as pollution, including flights within the UK and cars with the largest engines."
